How A Golf Fitness Book Can Transform Your Game

How A Golf Fitness Book Can Transform Your Game

There are so many “so-called” golf fitness books on the market; but when you open them up you see dozens of pictures of golf models sitting on exercise machines in the gym.

This is NOT a golf fitness book, this is a book pertaining to “general” fitness, but with the title revised to catch the golfers eye. In my mind, this is a little deceptive and can frustrate the consumer.

When I was doing research for my golf fitness book (manual) I was extremely disappointed. Having been a certified fitness professional for over 20 years and specifically working with golfers the last 10 years I was expecting some good body’s of knowledge on the subject.

I was extremely let down and even felt like I wasted my money getting them. This motivated me to put together my golf fitness book (manual) so that a golfer of any age or fitness level could apply it immediately.

What are the components of a complete golf fitness book?

The golf fitness book should cover strength specific to golf, flexibility, aerobic conditioning (endurance) and nutrition.

These components should be directed at a golfer, not a person looking to build or tone muscles or just improve their physical fitness.

It should also discuss starting points for golfers at every age and fitness level. Have a golf fitness evaluation right in the book to determine your ‘current’ fitness level and ultimately your starting point.

That way you are sure what you are doing is the ‘right’ thing that will help your game not hurt it.

I think that’s the biggest concern for any golfer is not knowing where to start and making sure whatever he or she does will be right for them.

Secondly the golf fitness book should be able to discuss the direct benefits of any exercise to their golf swing. It’s motivating to ready why you would do a certain exercise if you can see how it will benefit your game.

And lastly, a golf fitness book should have progressive golf fitness exercises and complete programs to take you to the ‘next level’. I’ve seen so many books that have “general” exercises (not golf-specific) that have no sense of format or progression. This would leave your frustrated and not knowing where to start or progress.

So next time you go to a bookstore or get online and do a search for golf fitness book, make sure to thoroughly review the explanation and chapters to reassure you are doing the right thing.

You can quickly transform your game with the right golf fitness book.

Online Shopping and it’s Benefits

Online Shopping and it’s Benefits

The Internet has completely revolutionized the retail shopping industry. With online shopping, the consumer now has many different ways to shop without ever having to leave the comfort of their own home. Prior to the Internet, catalog sales were the only way that people could shop from their recliner while seated in front of the television. The choices you had were limited to the catalogs with which you had a subscription. Online shopping has revolutionized the way people are shopping from home.

The Consumer Controls The Online Shopping Industry

With the creation of the Internet, competitive shopping and pricing has taken a complete turn for the consumer. As a consumer that uses the Internet for most of my personal and gift shopping, I have learned to price compare through visits to web sites of retail outlets, major discount markets, shopping forums such as craigslist and auction companies like ebay. Online shopping provides multiple resources for the consumer price and product compare with multiple retail outlets. This freedom is the boost that keeps the online shopping industry gaining in popularity.

Retail Outlets And Online Markets Compete For Business

With the wide range of online shopping outlets, I can actively seek a price that I want to pay for an item, rarely do I pay full retail price for anything. I can go online shopping at a major toy store and gather information on the retail cost of the gifts or items I want to purchase. I can then go to discount online outlets or auction sites and price shop for the items. Without ever leaving my home, I can shop and compare for nearly every purchase that I want to make.

The Boroughs of New York City

The Boroughs of New York City

The Five Boroughs of NYC are an essential part of American history. From the Brooklyn bridge to the Manhattan Bridge, these boroughs have a story that tells you about their neighborhoods. NYC is home to many of America’s most famous landmarks. Here is a brief look at the 5 boroughs of NYC.

The Bronx is a city of New York. It is also called the New Yorks Borough. The name comes from the old Spanish colonial settlement. It is the home of Yankee Stadium, where the New York Yankees plays.

New Yorkers, by tradition, are not allowed to pronounce the borough name without first saying the word “Bronx.” The borough was originally named after John Bronington, who was the governor of the colony in 1666. Bronx has long been a place where residents celebrate all sorts of events. The Bronx has hosted the World Amateur Golf Championship since 1933. In the Bronx, you can find a variety of festivals every year including the Bronx Jazz Festival, the Bronx Blues Fest, and the Bronx Film Festival.

If there were five boroughs in New York, then New Yorkers would be lumped into two: The Manhattan Borough and The Queens Borough. Manhattan is the largest of the five boroughs. The name itself is derived from a New Yorker word, “Manhattan Island,” which means the island just south of Manhattan.

Manhattan is the seat of government for New York City. The city is divided into nine districts. The most populous is The Borough of Manhattan Beach, which contains Manhattan City Hall. Brooklyn, Long Island, and Queens all have separate government buildings. This division has made it necessary for New Yorkers to identify themselves by their borough. When referring to the New York State Assembly or the New York State Senate, locals will refer to the district they live in.

Queens is another borough. The population of Queens City Hall is the highest, but other boroughs also have high numbers, including Nassau County, Queens Village, Astoria, and Flushing. Queens City Hall is one of the busiest in the city, with numerous offices. The name was chosen because Queen Charlotte Sound, located in Jamaica Bay, formed the southern border for this region.

Staten Island is the smallest of the five boroughs. Staten Island is not part of Manhattan City but shares borders with it because many buildings are within the boundaries. Many people who live in Staten Island are of Hispanic descent.

Staten Island has a unique geography. The island is part of New Jersey, with a peninsula that separates it from Manhattan. The island’s eastern shore and lower peninsula are part of New Jersey City’s west coast.

Bayside is the second-smallest of the five boroughs, with approximately one hundred thousand residents. The majority of Bayside is in New Jersey City, with the eastern part lying on Manhattan Island. The western half of the island is comprised of the borough of Kingsbridge.

Staten Island is the largest of the five boroughs. The number of residents is much higher than the other boroughs. This is largely due to the number of ferry boats that travel between the boroughs. It is home to the Statue of Liberty. This island is also the site of the Statue of Liberty Museum.

Queens is the third-largest borough, with approximately eight million residents. The East Queensborough neighborhood of Astoria is home to two of the tallest buildings in the United States: the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center. Queens is also home to the Queens Museum, which houses an array of art and artifacts.

Brooklyn is the fourth-largest borough, with seven and a half million people. The neighborhoods of Prospect Heights, Myrtle-Whitney, Prospect Park, Prospect Wards and Green-Wood are located in Brooklyn. The neighborhoods of Cobble Hill, Williamsburg, Brownsville, Fort Greene, and Prospect Park are located in Queens.

What Is A Portable Spa Hot Tub?

What Is A Portable Spa Hot Tub?

A portable spa is a spa that is, quite frankly, portable. A portable spa or hot tub can be moved to different locations if needed. They tend to be very affordable, yet attractive, alternatives to fixed spas. In fact, they can provide all the benefits of a spa or hot tub without high costs.

Many portable hot tubs are inflatable and do not have a hard shell. This makes them easier to move around. The most convenient of these are self-inflatable and can be up within minutes ready for you to use. Many of these portable spas also offer the streaming jets of water which are usually easy to get operational. Many of these portable units also have heating, so your soaking experience and streaming water jets will provide a relaxing massage with many health benefits.

Other popular portable spas include wooden hot tubs or portable fiberglass models which can be moved around as needed. They are far less expensive than the installed models and when you move house can be taken with you. However, caution must be taken with portable spas in moving them around because they are not as sturdy as the installed models and can easily be damaged.

Installation of built-in hot tubs is generally very expensive, so portable hot tubs offer a great saving in this one area alone. If you lack space, they can also be taken down and packed away until they are wanted again.

There are a range of models of portable spas on the market, so you definitely have choice. Take the time to consider the benefits of different products and look for reviews online. Portable spas and hot tubs often offer the very same features as built in spas for a fraction of the cost. For this reason alone, if you are considering buying a spa, a portable spa can offer you all the benefits of a traditional spa with the significant additional benefits of cost savings and portability.

New York City Sightseeing

New York City is home to some of the most beautiful sights and sounds in the world. There are so many sights and places that tourists will never tire of visiting. If you plan to visit New York, one of the best ways to start is to plan your sightseeing itinerary ahead. You can do this online at several sightseeing tours websites, or by contacting local tour guides. If you go with a local guide you can expect them to provide information about the sites you want to see.

New York City consists of five boroughs – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. In its core lies Manhattan, a densely populated borough which is home to a number of the city’s world-famous landmarks – including skyscrapers like the Empire State Building. Its more popular sites include Central Park, Broadway, and neon-lit New York’s Times Square. The city also has many museums, art galleries, and parks which attract many visitors from around the world. Many tourist destinations in New York are ideal for families, because there are so many things to do and see, even if you don’t have children.

However, if you are looking to sightsee New York, you will find that it doesn’t always follow the traditional tourist routes. In fact, New York City Sightseeing doesn’t have to involve taking a car, because buses and subways are readily available. Buses and subways can take you to popular areas of New York such as Times Square, Battery Park, Rockefeller Center, the South Street Seaport, and Prospect Park. The subway can also take you to Long Island City and Brooklyn, which are both very important cultural hubs for the city.

3 Picture Books: How to Hike, Camp, Relax in the Great Outdoors – The New York Times

Ernestine is invited to go camping with Aunt Jackie and cousin Samantha. Her anticipation builds as she packs supplies (stuffed Foxy is a must), tests her new flashlight and makes trail mix with Dad.

In graphic-novel-style layouts, the road trip from city to country unfolds — the girls look at comic books, play cat’s cradle, stare out the window, sing along with the radio — culminating in a full-spread illustration of the destination, a lake in the woods.

Ernestine has much to discover. Setting up camp is work. Lake swimming might include live fish. Hiking is not the same thing as walking. But there are wonderful things as well: massive trees too wide to reach around, strange bugs to study, unfamiliar foods that prove to be surprisingly tasty.

The first-person voice is on point: Ernestine loads her backpack so full of food for a short hike — supplementing the trail mix with essentials such as “leftover chips, cheese sticks, peanut butter crackers and cookies” — that she can barely climb a hill. “When we finally stop, I eat a lot so my backpack will be lighter on the way back!”

Her excitement, curiosity, hesitations and fears play out in her dialogue and keep her awake when everyone else is sleeping: “I’m boiling. I need to get my socks off! Where’s my water bottle? Where is Foxy? I’m freezing. Is anyone else awake?” The magic of the nighttime sky is just the tonic she needs; stargazing with Aunt Jackie and Samantha settles her down. By the next day, a confident Ernestine tackles a swim in the lake and helps break down the campsite.

The illustrations, a mix of pencil line drawings with digital collage and painting, are evocative and effective. Step-by-step sequences, presented in panels, deconstruct key activities like making a campfire. Mann’s diagram showing how to assemble a s’more might inspire even those who rarely leave their apartments.

A young, bespectacled boy races through his school day, leaving his dog behind. Then, with perfect timing, the child on the run reaches fever pitch just as the text and art shut down the action with a full-page spread that shouts, “STOP.”

And the story takes a breath. Abruptly, the graphic, mixed-media illustrations by Christopher Silas Neal that were filled with kids, buildings and school buses settle down and shift their color palette to the cool side. Neal expands on the slim but pithy text to build out the boy’s world with a diverse set of classmates and the charming little houses where they live.

There’s no insistence that working hard is bad — toys are present along with books and paperwork. The need for a break is the point. So the boy and his dog slow down, take a walk, play, lie in the grass and breathe. “This is what it’s all about,” the text affirms. As night falls, they count stars and catch fireflies.

The equivalent of a deep breathing exercise, “Hurry Up!” will likely help even the most active little multitaskers unwind.

Pat Cummings’s latest books include the picture book “Where Is Mommy?” and “Trace,” her debut middle grade novel.

Digital Camera Storage Media

Digital Camera Storage Media

When someone buys a new digital camera for recreational purposes, they rarely look at the type of storage media the camera supports. How important is the storage media, exactly? Well, it’s where your pictures are stored, so it must be pretty important! Someone doesn’t want to be in a another country before they figure out the camera blinks “Memory Low” in red. A new digital camera usually comes with a means of storage, but the storage media is, most of the time, not sufficient enough to hold the slighest amount of pictures. The average stock digital camera may come with 16MB, 32MB, and maybe even 64MB worth of memory media. A memory card with at least 512MB-1GB storage is highly recommended to replace the stock memory card the camera packaging includes. The most common types of digital camera storage media are CompactFlash, Secure Digital, xD Picture, Memory Stick, MicroDrive, and SmartMedia.
Most of the current digital cameras use CompactFlash cards. The two types of CF cards are Type I and Type II(slightly thicker). The Type II CompactFlash card is also known as MicroDrive, which will be discussed further down this storage media list. SanDisk describes their CF cards as “size of a matchbook and only weighs half an ounce”. There is a controller card that allows for faster transfers. These cards are the most popular because of the decent price and the support throughout many digital cameras.
Secure Digital Cards are the smallest digital camera media cards in the storage media market. The cards can store up to 4GB of memory as of now, but new technology will soon increase the max size to 8GB. A high level of protection is guaranteed against illegal copying. This means that Secure Digital Cards offer more data security.
xD Picture Cards can be used in CompactFlash supported cameras with a CompactFlash adapter. The maximum capacity of xD Picture Cards is a gigabyte of space. The cards offer fast read and write capabilities for digital cameras.
Memory Sticks were created by Sony for their Cybershot line of digital cameras. They aren’t supported by brands of digital cameras other than Sony which decreases their digital camera’s support of Memory Sticks severely. Many of Sony’s other products, besides digital cameras, support Memory Sticks. The Playstation Portable(PSP) uses Sony’s Memory Sticks as well as Sony’s Vaio line.
MicroDrives are the hard drives inside of Type II CompactFlash Cards. They have better value and are better priced than flash memory, but flash memory has more space and storage. You may have heard that hard drive MP3 players fail over time due to their moving parts. The same concept can be applied to these cards because they have moving parts as well. This is why you may have heard that MicroDrives are unreliable and low in quality. Many of them would break due to the mishandling of the card.
SmartMedia cards are being replaced by the new flash card technology. The cards are still available, but the modern digital cameras usually don’t support this type of storage media anymore. The card is cheaper than all the other types of storage media mentioned above.
Storage Media for digital cameras is constantly evolving and improving in quality and capacity. Years ago, the maximum storage capacity for an average memory card was 128MB or 256MB at max. They cost way too much, probably 300% more than they cost right now. The prices of digital camera storage media gets lower every year as the technology gets better. The types of storage media provides diversity and choice for the average consumer with a digital camera.
